bearing single Three pence blue on lightly blued paper, well clear to large margins tied by light
oval mute grid cancellation, endorsed “Immediate”; clear Canso (AP 27) dispatch, oval “H”
(Halifax AP 30), partial Quebec (MY 8) transit and neat Montreal (MY 10) receiver backstamps;
a few wrinkles and horizontal file fold away from stamp. Very Fine (Scott 2)
Note: This cover is unreported in the Arfken & Firby “Pence Covers of Nova Scotia and New
Brunswick 1851-1860”; this is the latest recorded usage of the Three pence rate to Canada. |
